Lips discolored

I went away last week and came back to something strange (I swear I can never leave without coming back to some problem with the tank).

My Elongatus and my Johannii seem to have lost the color in their lips. The Johannii also seems to have made a bit of a burrow in an existing cave and can only be coaxed out at feedings (it used to be the most aggressive and gregarious fish in the tank).

Was this from a fight? Breeding? Bad collagen injections?

Seriously, my mbuna get this when they've been scrapping with one another. It doesn't seem to be permanent, although some of them fight pretty regularly so I don't know for sure it will go away on them.
