Well I've always wanted one of these guys and I got a great deal today that I couldn't pass up. So enjoy the pics of my new, baby Pixie Frog! :D

LOL, yes very round, and very cute. I'm hoping it's a male. They can get bigger than a softball when full grown.

Thanks everyone! I don't have a mate for this guy/girl but I will admit it was kind of an inpulse momment. I don't know if I will ever breed Pyxicephalus edulis. It's a cool frog though so we'll see what happens.

That's a good characteristic that it might be a male frog. I've got my fingers crossed.
The reason I hope it's a male is because they get much, much bigger than the females which is weird because in most frog/toad species the females are the bigger sex.
OMG that is the cutest frog i've ever seen, he is a great new pet, congrats.

Hey, go big or go home! The males are the most sought after of the two sexes because they get almost twice as big as the females and are usually more colorful. I guess you could compare them to bettas. Most people want the male fish, not the drab females. A large male African Bullfrog is quite the impressive sight!
Here's a pic of one next to a White's Tree Frog just to compare the sizes.

At the moment I'm keeping the little guy in a spare 10 gallon tank with Zoomed Eco Earth bedding. I kind of just threw it together last night so it's not much to look at. When he/she gets bigger I'll up grade to a 20 gallon. These guys love to bury themselves so a deep layer of mulch is a must. I have a UTH stuck to the backside of the tank for heat. These guys should be kept around 80 during the day and at night the temperature can drop into the mid 70's. Their cage has to be kept moist with humidity levels 70% and above so I mist it a few times a day. I have a small dish for soaking in but I think I'm going to have to upgrade very soon.

Thanks. At the moment I'm feeding it crickets, small dubia roaches and earthworms. When it gets older it can take large roaches, feeder fish, mice and even medium sized rats!
In the wild these guys eat large insects, fish, rodents, lizards, snakes and even small birds.

Thanks. When he gets bigger I'll either keep him in a large tub or a bigger fish tank. One thing to keep in mind about this species is that it likes to hide. It's common for them to bury themselves down in the mulch for long periods of time. So far I haven't seen the little guy in 3 days!

Well I don't have any recent photos but I'll take some new ones this week sometime. I'd say he's about the size of a large orange now. I swear he never stops eating.

Budgett's are really cool too but I've never seen them offered for sale around here.
