I read in many posts that diy fertz are a lot cheaper then buying them, where can I find out what I need and how to make them??

Thanks guys lots of info here I will start reading and studying. it all sounds a bit difficult to understand all at once. I just need a good test kit now. Is there one that can test all or most of the fertz like: iron, carbon, potassium, nitrate and others for fertz testing. where the best place to get one??
 
The only ferts I test for, are nitrate and phosphate, because I have both in my tap water already. I use them to tailor my EI or PPS pro mixes. Like for example I have about 5-10ppm of nitrate and 1ppm of phosphate, so I barely use 1/2-1/3 of the recommended additions of N and P.

I've alway wondered about K and Iron, but I just look for deficiencies in those cases.
 
You don't need test kits, I haven't tested my waters in ages.

All you need is

KNO3 (nitrates + potassium)
KH2PO4 (phosphates)
CSM+B (micro nutrients)
A measuring device

Depending on your light level, add these 1-4 times a week, with a 50% water change at the end of the week so nothing becomes too concentrated.

This is the gist of the EI (estimative index) dosing of ferts. You dose the macros 3days a week and the days in between you dose the micros and the seventh day you water change and dont add anything.
