Where to put airstone?

i got a 3 inch air stone, it's not making bubbles. Where am i supposed to put it, and in which position?

Is it hooked up to a air pump. If it is check your airline tubing. If that is ok, what you can do is take out the tubing on the pump side and blow into it too see if any bubbles come out of your airstone if not then it is clog.

You can put the air stone anywhere you want.

It also depends on the size of your tank. If you have a large deep tank you need a large air pump to compete with the water pressure. If the airstone works at the top of the tank but not the bottom then you need a bigger pump.

I have a 90 g tall and even a large pump has barely enough power to push the air to the bottom of my tank.

Personally they make too much noise anyway. Airstones are not a necessity in a tank.
