The guys w/ the stripes are zebra danio, the silver one with yellow fins is a type of Mono, I think, and the two guys on the bottom are male guppies.

You're tank looks nice. I don't know much about Monos, but I think they are brackish... But I've also heard that they can live in freshwater... but, again, I'm not sure. Someone else might know though.

How large is your tank?

dude that was a minute+ long wait to get all that to show and I have cable, hate to think how long that would take for dialup... cropping is a good thing:D....

now for a few fish Id

the one on left you say you have three is called a zebra danio and the one in the pict looks to be a male

the one on the right is a mono species brackish water when young full salt water when adults

in the last photo you say you don't know what are.. lol common male guppies

small fish tank or large computer monitor... hope you plan on getting a larger tank for the angel and the clown loaches

I have known guys at fish stores to try to sell fish that should get way to big for a ten to someone with a ten... there are good people at fish stores but sometimes the dollar he earns by selling you more fish takes center stage instead of your fishes well being

Both the clown loaches will get too big for that tank and that angel should get too big for it as well.

Okay that took too long. I'm on dialup and honestly, that was more than 5 minutes and they still didn't finish loading! GRRR!

I would read up on the different fish you have, search their names on google and read sites explaining how big they get and how to care for them. I especially recommend this for the angelfish, mono, and clown loaches. Most likely you will need to take those back to the store if you don't want them to die, or get a large enough tank for the loaches and angelfish (a 55 gallon or larger), and a large enough brackish water tank for the mono. The clownfish can get more than a foot long at adult size, and the angel will need a deep tank with slower moving water so it can swim with its long fins. If you trade them in, ask here for advice on other fish that would be better tank mates for your danios and guppies.

I'm sorry your local fish store people told you those would be okay in your tank. They often give bad advice either because they are trying to sell more fish, or they simply don't know any better. Check in books or on websites like these instead of trusting the local fish store (lfs). It will save you the trouble and disappointment of losing your fish.

I would return the mono as you can't give it the proper conditions to live in. It won't last a long time in straight FW. It should moved to brackish then have the salinity brought up to marine. It is in actuality a marine fish and shouldn't live in FW. It's also by itself in a 10g with other fish, overcrowded as your tank already is the mono won't last long. They grow up to 9" in an aquarium and require to be in schools of at least 4 or more. You should seriously take that mono back or find a home for it. You also have neons with angel fish, an angel fishes natural food source. I would return everything to the store other than the smaller fish. Now that I just noticed, the mono is always in the bottom front corner with a black topped fin, that is an indicator of stress. It's obviously not doing well. I'm sorry to pick at everything, I just want the best for the fish and you to have a good experience at the hobby and not a disappointing run which could discourage you from the hobby. You don't have adequate space for any of those fish other than the danios, the guppies and the neons.

Dude, you have WAY too many fish for that tank. Your guy at the LFS is trying to make sales, not get you the fish tank of your dreams. Tell him you love pacu's and were thinking of getting one... see what he says.

<edit> I'm sorry man, I'm not trying to be mean, but you have been given some terrible advice. cdawson is absolutely correct in his comment about your tank. Look how the neon's are all hiding in the corner... that's not normal. It means they're scared.

Those are picture, things don't move in pitures :p the Neons move all around, they don't seem scared, i think ima take the 2 clown loaches out and take the mono out but keep the rest...

Pman2k3 and Gregg, those are some nice tanks, but Gregg those pics are HUGE :o.
Joe again, you have beautiful tank and discus. Is the last orange one guarding eggs? I would love to get discus someday.
I will upload some pictures of my tanks once I can borrow a digital camera or take some with my webcam (my avatar is a webcam pic; poor quality).

[Edit] Erik, I couldn't see the video stream, if that's what it is. It might just be my browser.

I once had a Petsmart guy sell me a bala shark, rosy red and blind cave fish for one of those 2 gallaon betta tank. He also said the light would keep it warm enoug hand the air stone was enough filteration . I was so stupid back then, I don't even know how those poor fish survived :(.

Yup - you guys were right. The software was off by accident. Everything should be working now. It's a live feed of the tank. The fish like to hang out by the intake tube, so unfortunately, that means that there's giant black thing in the center of the shot.

you'll need to add the url tags at the front and end of the address.
..the url goes in the front and the /url goes in the back.It should look like this:
[u rl]http://community.webshots.com/user/stik6shift98[/ url]..without the spaces, ofcourse...but I had to put them there so you'd be able to see what it would look like.

My rather sparse 20 gallon tank. There are only 3 rosy barbs in it currently. My corys and silver dollar died off in an ich infestation.

It has a whisper power filter, a horrid heater from god knows where and an air pump.

Speaking of heaters, are there any fairly cheap ones that would heat from the bottom of the tank? I turn my filter and air pump off at night and because my heater is located at the top the lower parts of the tank get rather cold. There is almost a 4 degree temperature gradient from top to bottom in the mornings.:(

125gJoe
10-12-2003, 5:52 PM
I thought the filter should keep the water column moving so the temperature would be mostly uniform throughout the tank.

If you get a submersible heater, you can place it horizontally near the bottom. That might help..

Slappy*McFish
10-12-2003, 6:23 PM
You really shouldn't turn off your filter at night...leave it on 24/7...the nitrifying bacteria that live in it, depend on it running.
