Hi all you wonderful and helpful people!!! I've been on this forum for what - almost 4 years now. Can't tell you all what a dramatic difference it has made in my tanks. However, just when you think you have learned everything, something else goes wrong!!

My guppies appear to be wasting away due to some internal parasitic infection. Their bellies just become concave. They get extremely thin and die. Unfortunatly, I am unable to catch them all before they die as I have a 180g heavilly planted tank. So, the disease keeps perpetuating itself as the others eat their fallen friends. The other species of fish are not affected by this. I have tried Jungle's Internal parasite food. It did not help. Salt does not seem to help either. What are your recommendations.

Thanks,
Swany

It could possibly be Fish TB...

Only reason I think so is that you say meds for internal parasites haven't worked....

Thank you for the TB link. I do not think it is TB as none of the fish are exhibiting lesions or skeletal deformities as described in the article.

They are not breathing heavily but do hang at the surface.

One thing you could try if you feel you have internal parasites is to feed them crushed garlic or foods laced with garlic which are sold at any lfs.
This should help all of your fish if there are parasites.
But also how old are your fish? Guppies don't last more than a few years before they pass on.

Thank you Tricksterpup. I have never heard of garlic in fish food but will look for it. Could you point me in the direction of what brand, in particular, to look at?

This is affecting fish of all ages.

stik6shift98, What is Paragon? I am not able to locate it. Thanks.

I believe its "New Life" Spectrum Freshwater Flakes w/Garlic. I am sure there are other brands. :)
