I have three rosy barbs in a 20 gallon tank and am going to add a few more fish but don't want to croud the tank. Would it be overcrouded with 6 rosy barbs and 4 corys * probably two emerald corys, not shure of the others yet* and 3 lepard danios. Also, would the rosy barbs bother the danios fins?

thanks,

Rosy the Pig

I had a pair of Rosy barbs with zebra danios in a 29 gallon, they were fine with the 6 long-fin danios, but the cories I think may have starved to death. The barbs were always harassing the cories away from their food.

It didn't matter if I fed the rosies first, and they were stuffed to near exploding. They bullied the cories out of algae wafers just as fast as shrimp pellets. Even if I fed some fresh greens to the rosies first, they still managed to scarf down most of whatever hit the water when I tried to feed everyone else. The danios competed fine, but the cories suffered. They even ate like pigs after dark, if I tried to feed the cories then.

They also ate my plants, my java fern and anubias coffeefolia suffered the worst, with every new leaf torn off. They ate my Malaysian Trumpet Snails, banging them on the glass until they pulled the meat out.

Just my experience...

I don't have any live plants so the plant eatting should not be a problem, although they DO try to eat the plastic ones. Emerald corys are pretty good sized so I would think they could be able to compete with these guys?

I've heard of feeding barbs leafy green food before, any particular type?

I've also considered getting neon tetras to put in with these guys, but when we had our 55 gallon tanks the Tiger Barbs and bala sharks ate them. Would rosies do the same?
