Thought I would update everyone, and thank you again for your (much needed) help.
My 29g has finally cycled! Ammonia hit zero on day 25. Nitrites hit zero on day 28 - YIPPEE! :D Nitrates are still fluctuating between 20 - 30. I've added some more (low light) plants hoping this will help keep the nitrates down.
Got a nice suprise on day 29 while doing a wc - baby guppies! There were three when I spotted them, but only two this morning.
Hubby has MTS....bad. Must be a guy thing - more, bigger, better, LOL. He and my sis are pushing me to set up the 55g she left upstairs (she -sis- wants my 29gal tho!).
If I do set up this 55g, what are your suggestions/recommendations as far as HOB filters, and gravel/sand? There is an UGF sitting in it, which I'm sure needs a new air pump - the old one up there is held together with duct tape, LOL!! Would like to use some low light plants - is this ok with the UGF?
Thanks a bunch - ya'll are wise beyond your years! :)

Congradulations on the guppies :).
I think I have multiple tank syndrome too, because I always find myself thinking about what I could do with some huge tanks; and money isn't an issue :p.
Personally, I prefer sand as a substrate. If you want to grow plants, it is better to not use the UGF (especially with sand). Consider buying a Fluval or Eheim canister filter rated for your tank. It is best when they turn the tank volume over at least five times in an hour.
Also, check out the plant forum, there's a ton of great info on there that can help you out.
