Z-Beam for tank stands??

Hey all....
Has anyone ever used Z-Beam from Home Depot for an aquarium stand? Acting on a friend's advice, I checked it out at HD today. It's made of steel ...and the box said it will hold 5,000 pounds, which blew me away. That could obviously hold about any tank. In addition, a moderator on another site mentioned that for the price (about $75) for a 5-shelve rack, it was the best buy he knew of. Anyone have experience with this stuff?....regards, Gregg
 
how you connect the stuff together would be the hardest part to figure out... all that weight bearing capacity is naught if you have weak joints
 
agreed snake....as I understand it, the pieces are fitted together, which eliminates joints............anyone else actually using z-beam?

I looked at Home Depot's website and couldn't find what you described. Do you know what it's specific name is (z-beam came up with no matches)? Thanks!

they have 2 versions, a light duty for like 300 lbs and a heavy duty for more (800?).....

i thought about buying one of the heavier ones to put some fishtanks on, but i bought the cheap plastic erector sets instead. those were good for like 400 lbs and 1/2 the price of the metal ones.

i thought the metal ones looked great tho, and they are adjustable by the inch. i dont think they would be any good for anything above like 30 gallons tho. the shelves themselves aren't that large and there is no bracing. on the + side, they have leveling feet too tho. :D
