Oh noes ...

The mature golden damsel in my tank has a couple spots on him/her that look like scales are missing? I'm attaching a picture below - dunno' if you'll be able to see much.

The fish vanishes for a while every night ... dropping down behind the decorations in the tank. So, at first I thought s/he had banged herself up exploring how things are set up ... but both sides of the fish have marks like that on it.

I dropped some Kanacyn in I had laying around, hoping that may help.

My parameters seem pretty well within acceptable ranges (for the lame dip-strip test kit I'm using while I look for a better kit).

The tank is a 55gallon. I ordered 80lbs of Caribsea live oolite sand, and 40lbs of dry rock from Marcorocks ... one bag of sand showed up yesterday (and they left it outside in 30 degree weather - its currently in a rubbermade tub in the bathroom with a heater and airstone).

Once everything arrives I was planning on moving the fish (and lone 1-armed coral banded shrimp) to my spare tank while I aquascape their home and wait for the sandstorm/cloud to settle.

I don't want to move that damsel, though, if s/he is hurt and it could make things worse.

Ideas? Suggestions?
