I've seen these on ebay. Since I have not heard anything (positive or negative) regarding these skimmers I would not waste my money on one. IMHO your better off buying a brand that has been positively recommended by others.

for $25 dollars I almost feel like being a guinea pig and giving it a shot, the 528 gph powerhead is worth money alone

What type of powerhead? I have heard of Rio powerhead overheating and leaking oil into systems. All that looks like is a cyclone spinoff
