CHECK OUT THE LINK AND SEE IF THIS IS THE FISH YOU MENTIONED,
CHEERS,
yikes i hope that isnt what you saw in your lfs, that guy is creepy. dunno what the allure of that fish would be.
i wonder if what your looking at in your store is a chinese hillstream loach. they always seem to have differant names in stores. butterfly loach, hillstream loach, chinese hillstream loach, borneo mouth sucker. the look like 3 inch flounder things with a leopard type skin coloration. nice fish, ive got one and hes quite peacefull and entertaining.

Here's another "tongue fish" http://www.bertaut.com/tonguefish.gif Too bad it wasn't labeled...
The previous pic looks like a red tongue sole (Cynoglossus abbreviatus) perhaps http://www.pref.saga.jp/suisan/gyosei/fish049.jpg
Haven't seen any referances to kepping them in aquaria, but you could try running that through a search engine at least. Gives ya a starting point ;)

I would think that they are brackish to marine though like the standard FW sole.
Try this link for info: It has no pictures, but if you can indentify it elsewhere it'd be a good source of info.
