Are you talking one oscar and one convict or more? I think if the tank was big enough you wouldn't have a problem maybe. The oscar is more than likely going to become the king of the tank however. As it grows larger and from my experience want to be the first to anything in the tank and as much as they can get of it before the other fish.. They really are gluttons. If you plan on keeping one oscar and a pair of cons I'd say you'd have some trouble when the cons spawned. It might get kinda messy with the cons trying to keep the oscar out of their territory and the oscar thinking the whole tank belongs to it. Not to mention if it got a taste of those eggs or the fry the cons will more than likely produce.

IMOandE oscars are best kept by themselves or with another oscar for a mate. Something the same size as the oscar could be kept however. I personally have luck with plecos. My 2 oscars don't even pay attention to the 2 that share the tank with them.

Make sure that the oscar is a good bit larger than the convict, or you will have problems with the oscar getting beat up. Be aware that if the con is small enough to fit in the the O's mouth, he will probably be eaten. Good luck!
