I've noticed that fish like bettas and gouramis dont like their reflections and tend to try and fight w/ them. Any suggestions on how to reduce it. I always have the room light on while the tank light is on.

I don't know if it is because they don't like their reflection but my gouramies sometimes go up and down the glass while they are facing it. It's kind of funny to see.

have you tried putting backgrounds on 3 sides of the tank? i think that might help...but if the fish see their reflection on the main side of the tank, i dunno if there's much you can do...

Ya i don't think there's really anything you can do unless you really want to make your setup look ugly.. lol but its normal my oscar and discus always do that. I think its just there natural instincted to go and investigate. Anyways good luck.

my swordtail does the same thing where he swims up and down the glass while facing it. worry about him sometimes because my clown loach was doing the samething in the corner and later died.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad it's not just my fish, at least. As long as it is not hurt by doing it, I suppose its ok. I was just thinking it may be stressful for it to be doing that. So far nothing has happened to it's mouth or anything from bumping the glass, and I have had him for a while.

Gonna be really hard for a fish to hurt itself on the smooth glass, Simon. I've had a few fish in past like that, usually aggresive fish like a grourami. 3 sides sounds like a plan, otherwise have fun watchin the show.
