I've gotten a few things from there. I guess it's the same as ebay as far as safety and assurance is concerned though. Out of say the 30 times I've won bids, just 1 thing came with a negative result and that was a $1.50 item so not much off me. BUT for the good things about it, I have received fish and live plants of which the plants were in great shape and usually received extra bunches (bonuses). As for the fish, I received puffers in excellent shape and very quickly. One of my favorite wins are when I won some Angels. I won 5 but 2 were dead on arrival and 1 was losing his battle and died by the following morning. I let the seller know this and they immediately sent me out 5 more, at no cost to me. Currently, these guys are all beautiful, thriving, and full of spunk and personality. Personally, I would reccomend the site but suggest you use the same caution you use with ebay.

(EDIT: typo's)

I've had really good luck with all my purchases. You can review the seller's history, and see if they've had lots of negative feedback. As always, consider what is being said--if someone leaves negative feedback, look at their feedback from the seller and others. Sometimes a negative comment is the result of unreasonable expectations or from a person who is generally not happy with their transactions rather than the fault of a specific seller.

I do not trust Ebay for fish. I do use AquaBid.

I've had good experiences with aquabid so far. What everyone else mentioned about checking the seller's feedback is very true and so is good communication between you and the seller (especially when it comes to shipping so you aren't faced with nasty surprises). Everything I've gotten has been well packaged and healthy too. Aquabid is a great way to find unusual stuff that you don't see locally too.

I've used Aquabid for supplies, books, plants, some Goldfish and my Discus- all arrived in great shape and are still going strong.
Read feedback, ask questions, and make sure you understand how the shipping works before you buy.

If you are buying high end fish I'd find a forum of folks devoted to said species and ask around as to the quality fish each vendor offers. I quickly found out which Goldfish vendors sell quality fish and which do not just by asking Goldfish folks.

I don't think Ebay is allowed to sell live-stock.... I was saying that aquabid is very much the same as ebay as in the way the bids run, feeback, and things of that nature...... I didn't mean to put forth that ebay sells fish as well.

I just received some great rainbows from rarefishatLAX on Aquabid last Friday. These were ones you can't find in any pet stores in this area. There were 30%extra fish & packed great. If you're interested in rainbows, this is a great one to go w/ on Aquabid.

I've never purchased on aquabid either, but I do visit there. One thing you might want to watch is what your local laws are. I've been considering buying some plants and the prices and quality there look good, but for some reason or other I was on the Texas Parks & Wildlife website and realized that some of what I was thinking of picking up was illegal to buy, sell, or posses here. Since a lot of the sellers are individuals as opposed to breeders or stores, they may not be aware of such local laws. So you might want to check on the specific species before you place a bid.

Ebay does permit the sale of fish.
Many of the same vendors as Aquabid sell on Ebay as well.

hmmmm.... I never knew that..... I guess I just assumed that ebay didn't "allow" the sale of livestock besides plants.....
