Let me toot the horn for the African dwarf frogs,i love these funny guys.They`re such easy keepers and carry no diseases to your fish.They have tiny little mouths that only munch on food(blood worms,daphinia and baby brime shrimp.They hid most of the day unless your home is quiet like mine.Then they start their show.My male loves to hang onto the thermometer with one foot and sorta just hang around.They bolt to the surface for air then takes a crash dive into the substrate Mine have just started following my finger up the side of the tank.If they are sitting near the side of the tank just slowly move your finger up and they`ll follow it til the fall over I love seeing them just sorta floating mid tank,lol it`s like they`re dead They also like to hang onto floating live plants at the top of the tank.I`m not kidding these things are so hillarious my mom will be in the room by herself and just burst out laughing at them.Oh well thats my sales pitch for the froggies.So i have decided to get a pair for all my shallow tanks.They get along with ALL fish.Just give them a cave or something to burrow under like mine have their driftwood.

i agree that they are neat but will dispute the idea that they get along with "ALL fish." something tells me they'd have a problem with being in the belly of something big. hehe.

:eek: Oh Jam that was an aweful thought.I was saying they are friendly,i know they are yummies to Oscars and other big ole preditors:(

hehe i was just kidding. they're really cool. i had some african clawed frogs (big suckers) when i was a little kid, and they were some of my favorite pets ever. my roommate a couple years back had one of the dwarfd...watching him catch blackworms was cute and hilarious.

I saw an albino clawed frog yesterday at my nslfs it was so neat looking.Don`t they bite or eat fish?

Both the African clawed and the albino clawed frogs will eat anything they can get in their mouth. My girl is about 5 inches from nose to vent, and chunky. She shares her tank with some blue spot gouramies, and other than messing with thier bubbles nests, she ignores them completely. Smaller fish would be a snack.

Afree completely! African dwarf frogs are funny little buggers though the clawed vareity grow up to be little monsters. That is also one of the reasons I keep to the 'unclawed' variety! The dead stance they often assume really got me nervous the first time I had these suckers :)
