oh no! white spots on my platy

ut oh. i just noticed that one of my platys has a bunch of white scaly spots all over him, i was wondering where he was and he's been hiding down near the bottom of the tank.
is this the dreaded ich? should i take him out and quarantine him? i can take him to my lfs tomorrow, but wondering if i should take him out tonite.
advice is totally appreciated!

Hi,

surely sounds like ich to me. It is getting late and you might not get too many responses tonight, so I would go to www.google.com and type in ich.

You should get all kinds of info on what to do and how to treat it. Actually....you can also drag down to the bottom of this newbie page and type in ich in the search bank, and I am sure you will get all kinds of helpful info already stored in the message board archives.

I am new at this hobby but from what I read ich is very common and can be cured no problemo.
