ive got 4 juvanile jags and 1 is a lighter colour does this meens its the male or the dominate fish in the tank its the biggest of them all so does this give me an indication of its sex???
Keep an eye on them. IME a trained eye will eventually spot differences beyond coloring and pattern. With twenty years of fish keeping under your belt, the sex will become apparent after they hit 3".
well thanks mojo nice to see you take notice i what i say i appreciate it
but seeming you know all about american cichlids you should be able to tell me through a description shouldn't you??
their are 4 juvanile jags 3 are a darker brown colour with their body markings less definded and then their is 1 which has its colour markings alot more defined and is also alot larger "like your butch" it is easily the most agro in the tank and seems to have 2/3rds of the tanks as its terrortory what do you think MR MOJO
I don't mean to hijack this thread but since I have the same question I figured I'd put it here instead of starting a new topic. Here's some pics (sorry, blurry but my batteries died before I could get any good pics) of my Jag. It is aprox. 5" in total length. I was just wondering if anyone could tell if its a male or female. Thanks
