i just posted this in the newbie section but thought i would repeat it here to get some feedback hopefully.. thanks again
well ive got my sick angel (i think he has a swim bladder infection) in a quarantine tank of sorts.... its a 5 gallon rubbermaid tub with a spare aquaclear 500 HOB on the back and a heater. my question is, is that enough flow as far as aerating (spelling?) the tank?? cuz i dont have an air pump for it... ive medicated him with maracyn two.. he seems to be scared, and is sitting in the bottom corner of the tank. i put a couple of old mugs in there and a sour cream tub for him to hide if he wants....
any more suggestion would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

5 gallon? Seems like an AC500 would be waaay too much filter fot that. If it is a 5gallon w/ that filter on it, the gas exchange would not be my concern
Anyway, yeah i think it would be enough...i dont know for sure..i just answered you cuz no one else has yet....:D
As for putting it back in there, i dont know much at all about fish illness...so i cant even guess at that one.

An AC500 on a five gallon sounds like Niagra Falls, or Victoria Falls for an African Cichlid. lol. All that water falling into a five gallon bucket sould provide plenty aeration. I am thinking of river rapids.

thanks guys. yeah the filter is almost as big as the tank., haha
but theres not that much disturbance cuz its right up to the surface of the tank
ohwell, i think itll be ok, dont know about the fish tho
thanks again

Empty some water from the bucket so the water has more room to fall, and it will create more surface agitation. How do you fit a AC500 on a five gallon bucket, or Rubbermaid tupperware? The filter has volume greater than five gallons! Maybe not. LOL.

You can get a 20 gallon bucket for about $5 at Walmart or HomeDepot.
do not put the sick fish back into the main tank.
