I had some chocolate gouramis and one time I was watching one swim into a sort of tunnel area. Half way through it decided that it wanted to turn around. the tunnel was quite narrow so it could not turn around like you would picture a fish doing but it was taller than wide. so after discovering that it couldn't turn around the regular way the gourami looked up and finnally over backwards and swam out upside down

My weather loach likes to curl up, nose to tail, in the plants. Looks like a goof! He'll also charge around the tank, following the same path each time--over a rock going left to right, then under it on the right to left trip.
My betta will swim part way through a hole in some drift wood, and then hang there for a few minutes.
My eel loves to curl around the other fish. My upside down cats are the only ones that will tolerate this, so he tracks one down and wraps himself around it. The cats put up with it for a few minutes, then go find another hiding place.
In the SW tank--the engineer goby is shy but curious. He'll slither away when you first approach the tank, then peek out and watch you. If he thinks you can see him, he ducks back and comes out someplace else.
We have hermit crabs that will hitch hike on some of the larger snails--they panic once the snails gets very far up the glass, and usually end up falling off.

"champ," a betta i've had for three months, likes to perform daredevil acts for his food. if i hold a flake about a quarter inch above the surface, he'll take a swimming start and lift his head out of the water to grab the flake. slowly but surely, i can lift the flake a tad higher to extend the height of the jump, but eventually he'll get mad and swim off, so i end up dropping the flake in for him or the danios.

Uhh... where to start. :)
I kept various of fish during these years (1988 onwards).
My first ever fish - betta "fighter" reminded me on a cat in every way - from eating, to nesting, 'leave me alone' days and even "hissing" at other fish.
One, puffer fish Tetraodon was extremely peaceful and even liked to be glided with a finger. A true pet! But at the night he disturbed all the fish around and bit their fins. However, in the morning he was just a cute little innocent fish who wanted a caress. Unfortunately, I had to return him, because of his behaviour. :)
I too had a pleco who got himself upside-down at the surface and liked to be fed "personally"with crushing flakes over his mouth! :D
And few days ago my Ramirezi really surprised me during the feeding time. One flake stuck on the Cryptocorine leaf, which floated on the surface and Ram saw that, but was unable to get it. He tried various methods and various angles (too long to be written here! :) ) and finally, he almost jumped as far as he could to get the flake back to the water and did it! Although there was more food floating around he just wanted THAT flake! Who says that curiosity kills only the cats? ;)

Once, I had a fish, and it sat on it's side at the bottom of the tank, and didn't move, then it started turning white, so I took it out and put it in the toilet, and it swam in big circles! Weird huh?!

I once had a Betta that owned half of my 55gal. Anyone who entered "his side" was gonna get nipped and bit until they left. Funny, I thought the Bala Sharks would've worked im over, after all there were four of them and one of him. The whole tank was scared of im. I even drew a line with a hgreas pencil one day and watched for a coupla hours. Sure nuff, everybody would toe the line, but nobody crossed it. betta boy was ready and waiting on the other side.

We got a cory last weekend that loves to play airstone trampoline. He dives down through the column of bubbles created by our airstone, lets the bubbles carry him back up near the top of the tank, and then dives back down again.

Well, this isn't my fish story... but...
My boyfriend has 3 female guppies in a 10 gallon tank that's pretty heavily planted with java ferns. This fish has always been weird, every time someone approaches that tank she stops using her fins to swim!! She just sinks down to the bottom and wiggles around! So my boyfriend and I thought this fish was for sure going to die, because every time we looked at it, it would act like it was dieing or had dropsy! One time we hid behind the couch and watched the fish, and we noticed that the females were all swimming perfectly fine, but the second we got out from behind the couch she would act like she couldn't swim again.
This has been going on for months now, and she does it all the time. It's quite amusing but I'm always afraid she'll get dropsy and we won't even notice!

well its not exactly a fish story but one of my ghost shrimp decided to have some fun one day. he would swim infront of my filter and be carried by the current until it was to weak to push him and he would swim back and to it all over again and again and again.
