what media do you use for biological filtration in your canister filter?

I use ceramic noodles. They seem to work pretty well. You can use bio balls which would probably be the best solution. I've heard of people using army men.

I use Dupla's Minikaskade (a hard plastic bioball) or Eheim's Ehfimech (a ceramic noodle intended for first coarse mechanical filtration and flow turbulence creation).

Ehfimech primarily, although a few canisters are packed with various type of plastic bioballs (all of which seem to do the trick).

I use Filstar Bio-Chem Stars. I've tried packing peanuts and plastic straws in the past, but they float to much for a canister.

Ehfimech and sponges.
