what medium sized cichlid would be compatible w/ an oscar and pleco?

medium size as in 6"?

It would depend on the tank size. If you have room, another medium-sized SA cichlid would be fine. For example, a Severum, or a Blue Acara, etc. These don't grow much past 8 inches.
