what is the correct amount of lighting for a 55 gal tank ???
i have two hoods for it and each one has a 15 watt light for plants -fish is this enough??? its the only special lighting i coul find that fits the hoods

Far from an expert on this subject but I feel bad when so many of your posts don't get a lot of comments ;)
I think 2 watts per gallon is considered to be a moderate light level provided you don't have a real tall tank. If I read your post right you only have 30 watts total which is only about .5 wpg. I would think that you'd have to find some pretty low light plants to live with that.
You may be able to find some higher wattage bulbs to plug into your existing hoods to bring it up closer to 2-3 wpg.
