My LFS has a 3-4 foot ALF in need of a home. This baby was turned in by someone who is moving across oceans and can't take the fish along. If we can't find a home for him soon, he may be put down.
Let me know if you're interested. I'll even pay for shipping...

Orion Girl,
My friend is interested in the Lungifish. He has a 1500G indoor pond and can house a fish that size. Please emil him directly as he doesn't check this board. He is anxiously waiting for your email.

He is located in WA.

Sorry--I looked here before I checked the PM's--I was out yesterday, so am just now getting caught up.
Thanks for helping out--I felt awful after seeing this great fish, stuck in a little tank.

It is in a 55 at the LFS--it curls around in one corner. Neat fish--looks like he's in good shape.

I crosslinked this thread to PredatoryFish.net. A lot of the people on those boards have huge tanks or ponds and have a lot of experience with fish like this.

Yeah--they weren't happy about it. The choice was either put it in a small tank and hope, or destroy it. No one else would even take it. The LFS was really happy when I told him I found someone who would take the big guy.
Happily, it will be going to a new home this weekend! Yeah! Thanks to all who were interested.

gotta love happy endings...
OrionGirl I'm very glad to hear it! I don't keep Lungfish myself but I've got some fairly similar fish, Polypterus bichirs, and they're wonderful fish.
What size tank / pond is this monster going to?

Butt-munch is going to be providing the fish with his very own 300 gallon pad. He was the first to indicate he wanted the fish on this thread.

For anyone who is interested, the lung fish made the journey fine, and is now at his new home. I'll post some pics next week.
