Im trying to figure out what is eating my plants...or plant, rather. I think it is some sort of val...really long grass stuff. I thought the flow from my powerhead might have destroyed the tops at first, even though it hadn't previously been a problem, so I redirected the flow. I noticed that the new runners are being shredded along the edges too. They are far too short to be in the flow of the powerhead. It all started after I started stocking. Here's my stock list:

5 small albino BN
5 small hatchets
1 quarter size koi angel
8 cories
3 golden wonders
a few endlers that i haven't managed to net out yet

As far as i know, all of these are plant safe, I thought. Something has to be eating the edges though. I cant imagine any thing else that would cause the damage. Its not decaying like lack of nutrients could cause. It looks like something is shredding the edges. Any idea on which ones it could be? Im leaning toward the BN but I haven't had any problems with them before. Thanks for the input

My bristle noses eat zuccini and algae wafers. They also like bloodworms and shrimp pellets that they stumble upon. My little angel was just put in there a couple days ago, but eats flake, brine, bloodworms. I try to feed a large variety of foods.

It was prior to that. It certainly hasn't gotten any better. Are angels known to eat plants? I dont notice any other plants being bothered. Just the val

There have been few cases of angels eating plants especially those with soft foliage. Mine destroyed all the leaves of the Nymphaea lotus.

Well thats a downer. Hopefully they will take off and get well established before either of those 3 can completely ruin them. Its a pretty big tank and they are soo small right now. Thanks for the input.

My money is on the BN. I have some too and if you do not feed enough veggy in their diet they will "nibble" on plants.
