someone in my household sprayed some sort of hairspray on my 1.5 gallon hex plastic betta tank. I've tried multiple cleaning detergents but none seem to work very well. Will a scratch removal kit ruin the plastic? Any suggestions on anything else that will work?

This didn't happen to a tabk, but I had someone get hairspay on a pair of my plastic afety glasses, and it was totally ruined. Seems one of the chemicals in the hairspray actually pitted the plexiglass. Hope this isn't the case with your tank, but be forewarned, it may be ruined.:(
Maybe someone can help you better than me. good luck

Hairspray will have a solvent in it like alcohol so that will etch the glass. You might be able to get it off with rubbing alcohol and hopefully if you don't let it stay in contact with the acyrlic too long the etching won't be too bad.

ID try using some rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl) diluted with some water to try to lessen any etching or "clouding" of the plastic.

I worked in a hobby store and have quite a bit experience with plastics. If you go to a hobby store you may be able to find a super fine sandpaper kit that will remove scratches from plastic. The sandpaper is down to like 10,000 grit or something so it is quite fine. JUst work down from like a 1000 grit paper or so(dependingon the depth of etching) This may work for you as a last result.

Goodluck!
