View Full Version : aquarium stand
I bought an aquarium stand for 2 29 gallon tanks. The top one fits fine but the bottom aquarium doesn't touch on the ends, the stand supports it longways. DO I need to cut a piece of plywood or something like that to put under it? thanks
Generally it is a good idea, but be careful. If you can talk to whoever you bought it from, or better yet the manufacturer, check. Some stands are meant to distribute the weight differently, I have had several that are made specifically not to "fit" exactly, but you have to find out from the maker. good luck

if you're forced to be creative with it, you might just wanna use a dresser or something to hold your tanks. i have 4 tanks with water (a 75 g breeder, a 35 hex, a 20g, and a 29g), and all are on dressers/whatever i had to make do with. hope this helps

dressers can be questionable, though. i would never put a tank over, say...20 gallons on a dresser or something unless it was built like a tank. there is no way i'd recommend putting a 75g on a dresser. they're just not designed for that purpose. i mean...a 75g tank weights something like 750-800 pounds when full of water and gravel.
Yes and also all the weight is at the top of the dresser, a high centre of gravity. Quite unstable. But like DJ said, 20g or less should be no prob. We had our 10g on top of an entertainment stand. I didn't like it there because everytime someone entered the room, the tank sloshed.

Remember to also make sure that before you put the water unto your tank, make sure it is level. If it is not, level the stand, not the tank itself.
