For the future...whats the best combo of fish I can have in your opinion that will breed. And I know Convicts would be 1 way to go, but .... no. anything else, atm I have Kribensis that are breeding and they are alway losing their fry.. I have rams, and have had Agassizi's that have died on me :( so I would like a larger cichlid, of medium size...How would keyholes go in there? But I don't know much about them.....

so guys bring on the suggestions

What about jewel cichlids?

You could also probably have a small colony of Lake Tang cichlids, like J. transcriptus or J. ornatus... maybe some shellies?

Depending on your water (if its soft) you could try some Apistogramma, and go with either a pair, or a harem (1M,2F).

apistos, rams, or keyholes. shellies would be good. convicts might need a bit more space when it comes to defining territories or spawning. look fo fish around a 4" max or under.

Yeah, water straight out of tap is about a 8. But I do lower my pH for some of my tanks.

Apisto's, they are kind of small, I like them, but I would rather a monster or 2 for a little while. As for the african cichlids, I will keep looking into them, even a single beast would be good.

I have a larger tank, but its currently growing a few small blue acara's so I can get some offspring.

Just a thought, I'd say it would be small, but would a single pair of blue acara's live in a 20gal. It would be a little small for space, but if they are paired, would they really travell far anyway?

just thoughts....

^bump.....also

what about brichardi's? I would like to know how they would go in there...I think they look great...

planted or not
heaps of territory's or lots of swimming space

also M to F ratio

and numbers, how many?

This seems to be a good way to go, atm
