I cant keep my HC rooted for the life of me. If I buy some dwarf hair does it at least keep root easier than HC? I have a substrate of soilmaster select and eco complete.

hc i think does better in smaller heavier substrate like ada soil. sms is light and eco is a lot bigger.

HC doesn't develop deep roots, so it really doesn't root well in any substrate. Forget to trim good growth and it can uproot itself when it pearls. Dwarf hairgrass is much easier to work with.

:iagree: dwarf hairgrass or even glosso would root better. If you want to see how 3m substrate compares you can get a large plastic cap from a softdrink and plant it with 3m that way gently placing it back in the tank. Think of it as using plugs when using planting a lawn if it takes it will spread itself over the SMS by itself. since sms is poris the HC may attach itself directly to sms.

My Rummy Nose devourer HC so there's no future for it in my tank although I've tried...:duh:

Just my .02 hope it helps.
