I have a 90 gallon community tank with tetras and gouramis and tetras. It is filtered by an undergravel filter with two 180 gph power heads. There are three small plecos that can't handle the alge alone. Then I have this water sprite that just sprouts from the ground and grows to the top. There is no direct sunlight and the lights are on only occasionally. The fish are fed a little only once a day. What can I do to keep the alge and water sprite in check natarualy?
P.S I had once tried to keep plants and severums in the same tank but the severums ate the plants like candy. Could this be the answer?

You trim and discard the excess water sprite, just as with any other fast-growing plant. And you manually clean off the algae. What are the nitrate levels in the tank?
