what's the best mouth fungus medication???

for neon rainbow fish- i need something that is also safe for pictus cats as they are in the same q tank - i am currently treating with melafix which says stops mouth fungus but i'm not sure if this means it prevents it or cures it??? have been treating for 3 days now with no results thanks for your help

I don't know what the best is, but I'll take a stab to bring this up higher and maybe somebody more knowledgeable can help you.

I've only had to use a fungus medicine once, in a quarantine tank, for mouth fungus on 2 new pearl danios. The product was Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Furan 2. It worked really well, turned the water yellowy-green, but did not end up staining. Anyhow, here's a link to a picture: http://www.aquariumpharm.com/aqfish.html

As far as if it is safe for the pictus cats, I'm sorry, I don't know.

Most antibiotics will work just fine along with keeping the water very, very clean.

Entering Flexibacter columnaris will get you some more sites, but here's a couple to start you off.
