A buddy of mine just added this fish to his tank. He has no idea what it is. Could any of you tell me so we can be sure he is caring for it correctly.

And yes I know, he should know that before buying, but he's impulsive.

This is the first time I have tried to attach a picture, so here it goes...

looks like a baby Pseudotropheus demasoni to me. but I may be wrong.

could also be a baby auratus

The pic is very small on my screen, so I can't ID it definitively, but it is certainly not a demasoni.

Are the stripes primarily horizontal as they appear?

Looks like baby blue Johanni.

Not a true johanni as their baby is tabgerene colored. this fish's female and babies are blue, just as in the pic. :)

All:

Thanks for the help. My buddy said that those answers jogged his memory. The pet store guy said it might be an auratus but he wasn't sure. Since that is one of the choices given, that's what we'll go with.

Thank you all for playing. You'll each get some lovely parting gifts... ;)
