Light for Anubias

Hi Friends !

Just wanted to know how much minimum light do Anubias need to survive. I have them in my 4 Feet, 200 Liter tank with 3 x 30W Lights (Total of 90 W) but this is causing a lot of Algae growth on the Anubias. I'm planning to remove 2 of the lights and keep them in 1 light of 30W alone. Will this be ok for them to survive ?

Also should I continue to Dose Micro and Macro nutrients for the Anubias at this low light level ?

Please guide me friends...

So will a 30W light for my 50 Gallon tank be ok for the Anubias to survive ? The algae that I want to remove / kill is mainly Black Hair Algae on my Anubias leaves. I tried putting in a few rosy barbs but the brichardis wont let them live even for a day ! Is there any other way to kill this black hair algae ? Can I use any Algicides safely or will it kill my anubias too ? Kindly guide me...
 
Black hair algae can be very difficult to remove once it establishes itself. Siamese algae eaters are renowned for their ability to mow through the stuff, but if you are worried about compatibility issues with current stock, you can always remove the plants, clean off as much of the algae as possible, dip in a 10:1, water to bleach solution, scrub again, and rinse with water+ dechlorinator before adding the plants back into the tank. Keeping on top of water quality will go a long way towards preventing another breakout later down the road.
 
30w over a 50g tank is lower than I'd go, 60w over a 50g tank should be fine for anubias.

Flourish Excel is a very effective algaecide for BBA, just use at the recommended dosage for a week or two and you should notice a difference.

50% water changes and only dose once a week. If your tank is lightly planted get more plants.

i m followin the thread , cuz i have the same problem , i had bba in my heavily planted 55, i removed all the plants cleaned with 19:1 water/bleach solution but put back only the anubias cuz they need less light and it s lower risk of algae with that ( i have 70w over 55g ) and my tank is now lightly planted with anubias,
u mentioned to add more plants , i didn t get it , can u please explain how add more plants will help to prevent algae ? thnx :)
(i cant find any flourish excel , so that s not a choice for me )
 
OWL:

Algae needs two things to survive--Lights and nutrients. More plant will "eat" all the extra nutrients=no more algae.
Where are you that you cannot find excel?? Dr, Foster and Smith sells it.
 
The only thing I ever seen eat mass amounts of BBA is Nerite snails.

Hi Friends !

Thanks a lot for the kind replies and for guiding me.

I cant have the Siamese Algae Eaters cause my Brichardis are breeding and wont let any living thing inside the tank...lol...

I cant get Seachem Excell here in India as they dont have dealers here (which is very very sad)

I do have a few Zebra Nerite snails but they dont seem to eat the Black Hair Algae....

Kindly guide me here...
