I got an Eclipse six for my son. Right now, we have 3 cories and one male betta. At the LFS, they got in some female bettas, would it do to put two females in, or would that be overstocking his tank?
I want to start him off better than I did, which was a process of elimination and lucky guesses as to what worked, and what didn't work.

It is best to keep female bettas in a separate tank until they are ready to breed or else they will probably be killed. It can work in really large aquariums sometimes, with lots of hiding places.

It sounds to me that the 6 gallon is stocked to a good level right now. I wouldn't add anything else to it.

The problem is, from what I've read... if the female won't breed, he'll kill her trying to force the issue.

Whis isn't to say it won't work at all. But all the tanks I've heard with successful male/female interaction are bigger than 6g, and have about a dozen females to 1 male.

Thnaks all...guess I'll leave it as it is. Still workin on a larger one for the family at home; subtle himts like "a 75 gal would look good right here."

Good luck with the current tank and better luck getting a new one!! Make sure to get one that is as long as possible (more surface area means more fish!!).

i kept one with a male in like a 3 gal and he was beating the sh*t out of her so i got her outta there and moved her to her own tank
