Merge of all GFW Threads on the Glowing Danios

Its scary, but they say they use natural occuring genes and add them to the eggs before hatching. Its kind of like cross-breeding coral with zebra danios. Weird! I dont know, I guess it isnt hurting the fish, but I dont agree with it. Its along the lines of 'dying' fish. Keep it natural!

I just got done reading that before I signed in here... I guess I should be opposed to that sort of thing, but hey, if they look that cool in the tank... Yeah, I'd buy'em.

hmm, the real questions is- what happens if you use them as feeder fish. ;)

You're fish will start using a blinker.

I think there are plenty of interesting and beautiful fish in freshwater and saltwater, so I don't think it's necessary to make 'new' fish. I don't think it's unethical, just not necessary. They've been doing it to food for years.

Yeah, there is a risk of them getting into the wild and contaminating the natural gene pool, but it's probably pretty slim. I never thought of calling it that though :).
