If you do, do you like them? I am waiting for my new 29 gallon tank to cycle and looking around for what fish I want to stock it with. I posted this over in the newbie forum, since I am a first time fishtank owner...but thought I'd post it in this forum too. I hope that is okay. :)

I am thinking of stocking with,
Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami's
White Cloud Mountain Minnows
Cory's or Loaches
and then maybe some shrimp and snails

Are these all okay to have together? In the research I have done it looks like they would, but thought I would ask people who have 'been there, done that' :)

How many of each could I have in a 29 gallon without it being crowded?

Thanks so much for any help or advice. I appreciate it.

The short version:

Yes, those fish are fine.

Keep in mind the little Gouramis can be territorial, and tend to pick on each other.

As for the number of fish...the fewer the better. Less fish = less hassle - it's a balance. Add them slowly over time.

hey

tank sounds great! i'm just gonna make one suggestion! first wait till your tank is cycled before putting anything in then add slowly because it will help to keep everything in order
also i woul ditch the neon blue gouramies as they are a little aggressive sometimes - the fish you mentioned are msotly schoolong fish and will lots of fun to watch!!! i have neon blue rainbows and they are AWESOME unbelievable color ontheir scales when the light his them they are very cool and fun to watch when they feed they dive to the top of the water and make a small splash while they peck the food they want but they are great fish! i keep mine currently with hatchet fish and silver dollars its a very active interesting tank - maybe you coul look into getting like 3 silver dollards instead of gouramis

try this maybe 3-4 rainbows
3 silver dollars
5-6 white clouds

that will be a kick *** tank i dont know if you like silver dollars or not but they are also tons of fun to watch plus they look very cool like mini pirannahs but are very peacefull!!!
let us know how you make out
if you have to have gouramis i would try pearl gouramis, honey , or maybe platinum

I used to have a trio of dwarf gouramis and never had any real problems. If the females have enough places to hide, then everything will probably be okay. Three (1 male : 2 females) would be a maximum though.

sorry

i totaly misread your post for some reason it hought you were asking about neon dwarf blue rainbows ooops well hey those are great fish anyhow!!!

thanks for all the help and advice. :) It is REALLY appreciated.

I am still really leaning towards the Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami's, but the Rainbows were another choice so I might end up with them. I have lots of time to mull it over for sure. LOL

I was thinking,

3 Dwarf Neon Blue Gourami's
7-8 White Clouds
4-5 Cory's

But who knows, I might still change my mind. LOL

Thanks again and if anyone else has some suggestions on a really neat bunch of tankmates I am more then happy to listen!

I'll look up the Silver Dollars, thanks for the suggestions. :)
