does everybody see algea on there tanks? i had my tank running for 3 weeks before i put in an algea eater, and i never saw any algea. haven t ever seen any in my tank. is the algea eater just that good (he hasnt grow to big, maybe hes 5 inches long and not really growing). could it be i have to much oxygen in the tank for it to grow, i have a big filter on a 20 gallon tank.

It depends on how much light your tank is receiving as well as having an excess of nutrients in the water. Oxygen levels should not have an affect on most types of algae, as it will grow on rocks in very fast moving streams where oxygen concentrations are very high. Algae was never much of a problem for me either when I kept fish-only tanks with very low light levels. When I started keeping planted tanks, however, I eventually saw every kind of algae imaginable.

I also never had algae in my fake plant tanks. I have went to planted tanks and have algae everywhere. I clean my glass twice a week. SO I guess it just depends on the person.
