i have a 55 gal tank with live plants cycling. the tank has a h.o.t. magnum 250,a whisper 4, two aquaclear 301 powerheads, 300watt heater, and an air pump. i was thinking of making like a tropical river scene with angelfish, hatchet fish, pencilfish, spotted headstanders, neon tetras, cory cats, and clown loaches, and i was wandering if the fish mentioned would be alright and if there were any others that you guys could think of that would be preety neat in there. thanks

Everything looks fine to me other than the angelfish/neon tetra mix. You would do better with a larger tetra species. I would also consider getting an algae-eating crew(a must have for any plant tank.) Otos, bristlenose, and SAEs are all good choices. Hatchetfishes are cool little guys..I really like the marbled ones. They can be a bit picky at times concerning food. In the wild they eat mostly insects that they snap up from the surface. If you have problems feeding them, try crickets...the smaller ones(pin crickets)..you can gut-pack the crickets by feeding them with fish flakes before feeding them to the hatchets. This will give the fish a little extra nutrition when consuming the crickets.

Watch out for those Hatchet Fish. Notorious jumpers. Have a great lid as they will make it out of any small opening. I would also say nix the neons and go for something a bit bigger like an Emporer tetra or even a glowlight.
