What type of lighting do you use for a 20 gal long non-planted mixed small Africans tank?

And how long would you keep the lights on?

Ive been using a GE Aqua Rays 20w flourescent and keeping it on 12 hrs per day.

Fish include yellow lab, boryeli, blue peacock and pleco.

Thanks!

Since you don't have plants it doens't really matter how long the lights are on for. Less lights will keep algae down. It also won't matter what type of bulb you use, pick one you like the look of. I have tried daylight, grow lux and reef sun on my african tanks and prefer a mixture of all 3(2 daylight,1 reef sun,a nd 1 growlux)

But i hate to tell you but your fish are going to get way too big for a 20g.How you have a bigger tnak planned.
