I have 3 Yellow Labs in a 30G (along with 3 Zebras, 5 SAE and 1 Pleco) and they are breeding like tomorrow is doomsday. There are 2 females and 1 male.

The 2 females JUST got finished giving birth to 19 baby yellow labs! Now one female is holding AGAIN!!!! I do not have the room to raise them until they are able to be sold to a LFS. Is there any way to prevent this from happening (other than removing the fish to another tank (ie move the male) - this is not really a possibility). I really dont want the babies to become food for the other fish either. :sad

Is there anything I can do????

Thanks!!!!

How in the world did you ever fit 3 Labs in a 30 gal. tank? I've got a Chocolate Lab who weighs over 90lbs. and I'm sure she'd protest if I ever tried to put her into even one of my 55s.
And you gotta be lying about the Zebras.........no waaaaaaaay!!!!

Actually it's a very big thirty gallon tank. :D

I had the zebras imported from Africa.

Any ideas on how to stop them from breeding?

I'm sorry moderators this should be in the cichlids. Please move if you find this. Thanks.

I'm an idiot :D

I say you just fix the males, them horndogs :D Seriously the only way I know to get them to stop breeding is get all of them the same sex.

Unfortunatly that is the way of the cichlid. The non stop party fish. Like trying to stop guppies I guess, have all of one sex. Can you trade some of the fish into the LFS?
