i was thinking about getting an upside down catfish. i have a 10 gallon with 4 mollys in it. are these cats aggressive, and how would they get along in my tanK?

I enjoyed the upside down cats I kept. The were great to watch and never noticed any signs of aggression. I wouldn't advise keeping them in a 10 gallon tank. Maybe if you could find some very small ones, but they would soon outgrow your tank and you'd be taking them back to the LFS. If you would like to keep a bottom feeder in your tank I would suggest cories. They are small and not aggressive. They also like to be kept in a group of 2 or more. I'd say you could keep 2-3 in thier with your mollies without a problem.

I've got an upside down cat, started out as a tiny thing, about an inch long. He's now up to about 6" or a little over. They do grow fast so I would not suggest a 10 gal aquarium.
just for the record there are 2 basic types of upside downs.... synodontis type and mystus. the upside down catfish "synodontis nigriventis" is a great fish, stays relatively small (maybe 4"), and likes to school. it's not an aggressive fish and likes to hide. it's also usually like a mottled brown color. but you probably would be better with cories for a 10g....
the asian upside down cat "mystus (somethingorother)" is a beautiful fish, but a pure predator. it is mostly black except a few speckles on the sides usually. it will reach 12" and smaller fish won't be safe. it also tends to hide, and is a solitary fish.....

I have two words "zipper loach". Or just any loach to be exact, they are excellent garbage eaters and there quite active. My loach perfers to be swiming up around the tip of my 55 gal then on the ground, there very cool to watch.

I agree! Get four cories or so. They are great little guys! I have two upside downs and all they do is hide all day in the plants! they are non-agressive, but really BORING!
