I have recently bought a 5 gallon self-filtrating coldwater tank. I have two common goldfish about 1 and a half inches long. They are healthy with a good natured temprement. I would like to introduce a couple of attractive brightly coloured fish, of a different species to the goldfish. Could anybody help me with some suggestions please?

I am really sorry to tell you this but your tank is already over crowded. Goldfish normally need 10 gallons of water minimum per fish. You will start to have problems with them as time goes by. You will need to upgrade your tank soon if you intend to keep those fish healthy. As far as adding another species of fish it is not recommended.
