Been keeping cichlids for almost 20 years.... No longer doing Africans, just American.
Just added 2 new tanks (60 and 120 gallon) to join the 180 and 20 gallon I already had. :)
There are some recent pictures of them here -

Well.... didn't want to barge in without an introduction!

nice site... I did find one thing odd, you listed the bleeding heart tetras as x-tra large but the oscar( which is way bigger as small)
an actuall measurement or an aproximation of that would be not as confusing

I listed them in relation to their own species. So the Bleeding Hearts are huge for Bleeding Hearts but small compared to just about anything else.
I like your suggestion and will do just that. So, these days do people count the tail or not when measuring? In the old days we never did, but a lot has changed since then. We even have internet now!!
Thanks for checking out my site.

you could measure them the way you are used to and just make a note some where on the page as to what you are measureing.
I honestly don't know which is done more now cause some measure one way and some another
