OMG!!!

I was going to pitch my trash like usual today and next to one of the trash bins sat what appears to be a 60 gallon all glass tank!!! I about died (fainted) but then thought...what if there's something wrong with this tank? Well, the ceilant is perfect, no cracks...no residue left behind, NOTHING!

Then after deciding to finally throw the trash away I had in my arms this whole time, guess what I found on the opposite site of the bin...A STAND!

*Rolls over and dies*

The stand which matched perfectly had one scratch on it which I have since taken care of...its a dark cherry wood stand, which happens to go with the rest of my furniture. :)

So, I proudly brought this stuff up to my house and set it up where I wanted it, poured water slowly into the tank...and guess what, NO leaks! :D :D :D

Am I like, so totally lucky or what? :p

Congrats!!!! :dance

A 60 seems to be a very rare tank. I just paid a handy sum for a used one. What are the dimensions? Mine is 48" x 15" x 17"

Nice!

I wish I had your luck. Not every day you find a 60 in the trash :p. That cherry stand must be worth a little bit too :).

YES! Thats what I was thinking...the cherry wood stand looks incredable. And the dimensions is 49" x 15" x 17"....which is strange considering its so close. Hmm, maybe I should measure it again to see what I come up with. 60 sounded right to be after I calculated things...

That would be a very strange size indeed!

Did it come with a hood? Mine didn't and I had a heck of a time figuring something out.... I bought a 55 gallon Perfecto hood (plastic, not a glass canopy) and took some extra plastic to cover the extra width in the back. The doors on the front of the hood are so narrow I scratch my arm up when working on the tank. :shake:

If I had to do it again I would get glass custom cut (should be inexpensive at a hardware store that does glass), buy the hinge, and buy a light strip. It would be cheaper and a better fit. I'm still considering doing this.

Stupid me...

I went back and checked (did like you said) and I came out with the proper measurements. Thanks for helping me on that one. Anyway, yes, I guess Christmas came early for me. There's nothing wrong with that....

Thats awesome, I wish I could walk outside when walking my dog or something and stumble upon a 125g in perfect condition with a stand right next to it.;)

That is a really nice sized tank too, I would love to have one with those dimensions.

walk outside and come across a whole setup with filter and all for a 300 g stingray tank with rays and everything. on a cart so you can wheel it into your house. and gold nuggets as substrate.

can you use coins as substrate. It woud be cool to have all pennies or random coins. I doubt t is safe though and very heavy.

The stand I have is very low.... I hope the one that came with aquariumfishguy's new setup is a bit taller.
