Hey guys. Well, after a long nap after a long test (its finals time around here) I woke up to a dead threadfin rainbow and 3 gold rams that appear to have ich. Lucky me.

Now the rams are acting normally, swimming about doing their normal rambunctious thing so I'm hoping I got it early (they're my babies. I have no desire to see them go). The other rainbows don't appear to have a single white dot on them. I've started to raise the temp from 75 to 80, should I raise it to 82 or more? I've also dosed the first treatment of ich med.... should I being doing the salt thing to? how much for a heavily planted tank? Also, for future reference, which ich med is best for planted tanks? I just went ahead and used what I had so as to get ahead of this think, but I'd really like to avoid losing my plants. The bottle says I can dose every 12 hours for "stubborn" cases, but how detrimental would this be to my plants?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Rams are so sensitive, particularly gold rams, i'm just so worried I'll loose them! :shake:

I have used the Paraguard several times over the last years and never had a problem with plants not liking it... I think they will handle most meds fine. Inverts and scaleless fish are usually the most fragile when using meds...

I'd turn the temp up to about 83 or 84 degrees... the Rams won't mind at all... not sure about the threadfins tho.

I have also used the salt treatment with plants at 1 tablespoon per gallon with no ill effects.

good luck,
