I've searched both PetCo & Petsmart, but can't find an undergravel heater. Even my ever so faithful google let me down. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I'm looking for one for a 20 gallon "long" freshwater, which I'm starting to set up. With only 20 gallons, I'd like to save some space in the tank, and this just might do the trick.

Thanks a million tiny bubbles!

Google on 'aquarium heating cables" and you will find lots, but it is a $$ way to get extra room.

once one of them cracked the bottom of my tank so be careful.

Externally mounted reptile pad can represent a hazard to tanks. Internally mounted heating cables should never be an issue as they do even contact the glass, they are support mounted out of glass contact.

heating cables are not a substitute for proper heaters, they don't churn out enough heat in the right way to provide as much as you need, and if you try to go for a bigger one, don't think about plants, it'll kill them within months i'm afraid.

RTR was correct, I did not realize they were so expensive. I really do appreciate all the advice, but I think a standard tube heater will suffice. I'm sure if I explain it nicley, the fish will understand.

Thanx again.

LOL! Yes, our fish do put up with a lot from us - but at times they do get back at us - puffers squirt at you, catfish and cichlids splash you, and larger plecos decorate your plants with something that is not Christmas garlands...
