I am looking for an algae eater to go with my brichardis and dafodil cichlids. I am thinking a bristlenose pleco if I can find one. Will this work and any other suggestions? My dafodils have bred, so it can't be too brittle, but yet wont eat the eggs at the same time. thanks

A bristlenose pleco wouuld be a good choice. what size tank is it? I have heard breeding Brichardi can be quite aggresive. make sure you have lots of hiding spots where only the pleco can fit into. Also if they start picking on the pleco remove him.

it's a 55g, the algae has just gotten bad, and it's the kind i can't even scrape off with my algae pad thing, so I need something to eat it as the few snails i have cant keep up, i think i might go with a bn then

Are you saying the algae is those hard green spots on teh glass? If so then the bristlenose pleco wont' eat it, I haven't found an algae eater that can.

Get a razor blade, that what i use, and it works very well for cleaning the glass.

I have the same problem in some of my higher wattage tanks. I have 2 bristlenose pelcos in them along with otos,SAE,snails, and none of them eat the green spot algae.

Try a razor blade, its the quickest way.But a birstlenose pleco will help witht he softer algae

I'm not sure that's the same type that I have, but using a razor blade, that doesn't hurt the glass any?

I have never had any probelsm with using a razor blade on my glass. You have to make sure to keep it level and flat to the glass. But if you are concered about scratching then you could try a credit card or some of the plastic scrapers they make for tanks.

What does your algae look like? You say that it isn't easily scraped off, is it little green dots?
