My 125 Reef (in progress)
Lighting:
60 watts 10000K
30 watts 20000K
30 watts actinic
Filtration:
No mechanical filtration at all, unless you count the little prefilter on the protein skimmer.
Circulation:
3x powerheads pointed crosswise so their flows intersect.
2x Whisper 2nd Nature HOB filters, running empty of media
Protein skimmer:
SeaClone 150
Substrate:
4-5" silica based playsand
75 lbs. base rock
Liverock:
50ish lbs. mixture of Fiji, Florida, and homegrown
Fish:
2 percula clowns
1 regal tang
1 yellow tang
1 striped dottyback
1 blue damsel
Invertebrates:
Hitchhiker anemone, unknown species, actually growing!!!
Hitchhiker sea-urchin, black, about nickel sized body, also growing!
Large colony of some sort of blue sponge.
A lot of Aiptaisia :-(
Cleaning Crew:
1 blood shrimp
12 blue-legged hermits
4 red-legged hermits
1 lonely little snail
The 10 gallon hex
I won this (really!) in a raffle at Wal Mart, so it cost me $1.00
Lighting:
8 watts conventional flourescent
Filtration:
1 Penguin mini HOB
Substrate:
black epoxy-coated gravel
Fish:
1 fantail ryukin named "Lunch" (long story)
1 "feeder" goldfish with interesting coloration (picked out by my step-daughter)
1 chinese algae eater (getting fat quickly)
The turtle tank
El cheapo 10 gallon with about eight inches of fine gravel layed down on a UG filter plate. The filter is driven by a Penguin mini HOB with the siphon tube inserted into the lift tube of the UG filter. It actually works! Nice waterfall effect onto decoration pressed into service as a landing beach for the turtle.
The turtle is a native soft-shell (not a protected species, I've checked) that was captured by my niece. When she (actually her parents) tired of caring for him (her? would it matter, except to other turtles?) He was fostered out to me.
The 27 gallon (another work in progress)
The pond
This is an above-ground pond, the sides are built up from spare dirt from the swimming pool. It's bi-level, with a 100 gallon preformed upper level that feeds a water-fall to the lower level. The lower level is roughly rectangular, about 12x14. The depth, for the most part, is 18 inches, but I excavated a trench another foot deeper to provide deep water shelter for the winter.
The inhabitants are 40 goldfish, half of them second generation.
