Just an interesting observation I noticed this morning when I turned on the tank lights. The Neon Tetras were essentially colorless! I did not know that they lost their color at night. It takes less than a minute for them to all come out of hiding for the night and brighten up again. Even the "headlights" are off!!
:)

Yup, fish use platelets to boost their colors, which require energy to function. As your fish "fall asleep", energy decreases & their colors fade. Fish do sleep :D
