Looks a bit like a iodotropheus sprengerae(rustie cichlid) by the pic. They are a rust color with a hint of purple on their sides. Does this sound like your fish?

Also if possible can you get a closer pic?

Maybe i can add some more info, this fish seems to be a brown color with dark stripes and the belly has a red/yellow color.
maybe this pic will help!

Its definitely not a P. saulosi. Im with Valerie... iodotropheus sprengerae or rusty cichlid.

I agree, it does look most like some Rusty photos i searched out. It may be a female as well, no egg spot on anal fin.
Thanks for all your replies, in any case another Petco rescue complete.

If it is from petco then it might be a hybrid, and then its anybody guess waht it could be.

I still guess iodotropeus sprengerae but it could be a rusty mixed with somethign as mine don't have that kind of barring

it could be a rusty x labidochromis hongi mix.
